Haikus: Local Views
by Elizabeth Southwood
A Harvest-moon gold
leaf drops from a bare dark vine.
Twigs engrave the moon.
The wind boxes drops
of water from a birdbath.
In the west, black clouds.
A flock of women
in winter-black suits and shoes -
finches chattering.
A wind from the sea -
tree shadows can-can on white
slatted window shades.
