Abandoned Hope
Over the freeway
a cloud burst
and
his
car
water-skied
across the road,
twirled
t w i r l e d
t w i r l e d
t w i r l e d
t w i r CRASHED,
crunched
against an 18-wheeler,
his arms crossed,
clutching
bent head,
expecting....
Not expecting
the truck driver
and the other drivers
to clap when he crawled
out of his wrecked car,
